about us

Ingleton Wood has extensive experience in the design of developments for retirement living. Our projects cover a wide range of types of accommodation from full dementia care to extra care homes for the over 55’s. We cover both bespoke new build schemes to major remodelling and refurbishment of existing facilities. Where possible it is beneficial for us to be involved from the earliest stages. We will use our experience to assist the client in the development of the project brief. This will facilitate the optimum solution for any given project. Our team will assess the site or building and advise on constraints and produce a range of possible options for consideration. Our designs will be produced in 3D from an early stage. Large extra care facilities can be complex buildings. We use Revit BIM 3D design software; this facilitates full coordination with all design disciplines and produces an efficient and accurate design solution. We prepare high quality 3D renderings of projects to aid consultations with the client and key stakeholders. This proves particularly useful when engaging with residents and the local community.

The design process can be simplified for clients via the use of a multidisciplined design team.We are well placed to support you with your project by offering the following services: • Architecture • Planning • Interior Design • Mechanical and electrical engineering • Structural and civil engineering • Building surveying (condition surveys, party wall surveying) • Project management • Sustainable design advice • Cost advice • Health and safety consultancy (CDM)

Herondale Care Home,Acle

Ingleton Wood were engaged by Saffron Housing trust in 2019 for the design of a new 58 unit retirement living facility in Acle Norfolk. The project replaces the former care home which closed a number of years ago as it was an outdated design, unpopular and difficult to keep fully occupied. The client was clear that the scheme needed this amount of accommodation to make the project commercially viable. The former care home on the site was mostly single storey with limited accommodation.

Various options were explored during the design development stage to create a scheme of 58 fully self-contained Category 2 Independent Living flats. This together with a high level of communal accommodation results in a substantial building. Subsequently, a three-storey building was selected as the most appropriate solution. The proposal provides a new highly innovative building with a gentle contemporary approach which is fitting within the rural surrounding of a traditional market town.
